1. This
new option improves the way learners take synchronous quizzes, which is
convenient for in-class sessions.Â
|
2. The timer for synchronous quizzes now starts at the set start date and time for all learners, rather than when the learner launches the quiz (like asynchronous quizzes). The quiz timer then ends for all learners at the same time. Â
|
3. This means that if students start the quiz late, they will have less time to complete the quiz than those who started on time - just like in a synchronous class.Â
|
4. The first step in setting up a synchronous quiz is to open the course Homepage and click Grades. |
5. Click Quizzes |
6. Click the Quiz you want to make synchronous or Click New Quiz to create a new quiz. |
7. You do not need to set a Due date as all learners are expected to start and end this quiz at the same time. Because students do not choose when to take the quiz, there is no need to set a due date. |
8. Click Availability Dates & Conditions |
9. Click and select the desired Start Date. |
10. Then click and select the desired Start Time. This is when the timer for the quiz will begin counting down. |
11. Then click and set the desired End Date and Time. This is when the Quiz will end for all students regardless of when they started the quiz. |
12. Scroll down and click Timing & Display. |
13. Click Set time limit. |
14. Make sure the Time Limit matches the length of time between the Start and End Times. If not, click and adjust the Time Limit. If this is not set correctly, the quiz will not end at the correct time. |
15. Click Timer Settings |
16. Click Synchronous: Timer starts on the start date. |
17. Make sure Automatically submit the quiz attempt is selected. If not, select it. |
18. Click OK. |
19. Make any other desired changes to the quiz, then scroll down and click Save and Close. |
20. Make sure the Start and End Times are correctly set. That's it. Your Done! |
